I am the author of more than a dozen books on the media and several major biographies including Death of a Rebel: Starring Phil Ochs and a Small Circle of Friends; Rockonomics; Walt Disney: Hollywood’s Dark Prince; Down Thunder Road: The Making of Bruce Springsteen; To the Limit: The Untold Story of the Eagles; Erin Brockovich: Take It From Me;The Whole Truth; Down 42nd Street; The New York Times bestselling biography "Cary Grant" published in September 2004 and "Jimmy Stewart" published in the United States and Great Britain October 10, 2006.

"Cary Grant" appeared on the NY Times Bestseller list, the Los Angeles Times Bestseller list and several others. It is currently in its fourth hardback printing and has been issued in paperback. It has also been published in separate hard and soft editions in Great Britain, by Aurum Press. In January '05, a new, updated paperback edition (the first)of "To The Limit" was published by Da Capo Press, one of the best pop-culture houses in the country. Also, in January '05, the long-awaited "I Feel Good" was published, by New American Library (Perseus). This is James Brown's memoir, with a very detailed intro by me. Publishers Weekly gave it a rave revew. The New York Times highlighted it on the front page of its daily Arts Section, and called it "Jaw-dropping." The Sunday New York Times gave it a very positive full page review.
Most of Marc Eliot's books may be purchased directly from the author by posting an email to meliot6041@aol.com They arrive autographed and, in some instances, are available at a discount. Marc Eliot books that are hard-to-find or out of print usually are available at collectors' edition prices, if the author has any copies left.

James Brown's long out-of-print "Gettin' Down To It," featuring the Dee Felice Trio, has been rereleased (fall '05) with extensive liner notes by Marc Eliot, on Verve CD (Verve B004962-02).

"To The Limit" was nominated for a 2006 ARSC (Association for Recorded Sound Collections Awards for Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research)Award. ARSC is a non-profit, international organization founded in 1966.

ALSO: "Jimmy Stewart" was published in paperback September 25th, 2007. I have written an introduction to "Out of Sync," the high-profile memoir by Lance Bass, out in October 2007 and my long-awaited oral history of Brooklyn, "Song of Brooklyn," will be published next spring.
